Just Add Ink #458 - Letter Challenge

Jo's Stamping Spot - Just Add Ink Challenge #458

Wow, the end of another week is upon us, I can't believe how fast this year is flying by! Regardless, we have a new challenge running from today over at Just Add Ink and for this challenge Tina has suggested we add one of the last remaining letters in our letter challenges - Q, X, Y or Z!

I am glad these letters were bundled together to pick from - so NOT easy! I have very little in my stash for any of these letters and my first attempt was going to be a quilt-looking card but yeah, it didn't come together. So the result of my second attempt at one of these letters is my card below.

Running out of time for this challenge I went the easy route, I used the Sailing Home stamp set I got at OnStage last month because it has a yacht in it! However this meant I was totally challenged in another way - making a masculine card! Not my favourite thing to make!

I am quite thankful I did get this set from OnStage because it's not really a set I would buy, but that's my style not the stamp set. The set has some really lovely masculine images and phrases and there are heaps of beautiful examples out there on Pinterest already. Anyway, being masculine I went with the Night of Navy and Sahara Sand colours that are in the coordinating twine. I used some retired striped Night of Navy DSP because I wanted the white in there to lighten up the card where the current DSP is all Navy. The stitched circle is watercolor paper with some Balmy Blue ink applied with an Aqua Painter and the yacht is stamped in Night of Navy and I've lightly used a Blender Pen to smudge some of the colour on the boat and sails. Some Sahara Sand sequins finish off my card.

Overall I'm still not totally happy with the end result but it's OK. Please don't forget to check out all the other inspiration over on the Just Add Ink challenge blog!

  1. It's a lovely card. Like you, I don't naturally reach for this type of stamp set, but I think that's going to change with this one!

  2. I really love the design of your card and the little details like the smudging of the ink on the sail boat...great tip. It all comes together to make one great masculine card. Thanks for sharing your talents.
